Job Description

Position Overview

The Principal Compliance Specialist will help, establish, execute, and maintain a solid compliance framework to support Discover's non-consumer facing Corporate Areas which aligns to regulatory expectations of an effective Compliance Management System (CMS). The role collaborates with partners in Compliance, Risk Management, and the Legal Organization to identify non-consumer risk, ensure testing for adherence to the applicable compliance requirements, monitor compliance risk, and ensure risk is appropriately controlled through ongoing awareness and reporting.


* Assists with research of regulatory compliance requirements and evaluating the adequacy of business policies, procedures, training, reference materials, systems, and processes.

* Assists with the identification, assessment, and communication of compliance program risks and controls.

* Assists in obtaining and developingcontent for presentations for committee reporting.

* Supports the business in operationalizing legal and regulatory requirements inherent in new product development and changes to services.

* Maintains a high level of awareness and knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements .

* Participates in the regulatory change management process by assisting with the documentation of the Compliance Control Standards.

* Ensures compliance issues are brought to the attention of senior compliance professionals in a timely manner.

* Assists with various compliance projects as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum, here's what we need from you:

* Bachelor's Degree in any field

* 4+ years ofexperience in Regulatory Compliance (prudential regulations), Legal

field, Risk Management, Governance,orrelatedfield

* In lieu of a degree,8+ years ofexperience inRegulatory Compliance (prudential regulations), Legal

field, Risk Management, Governance,orrelatedfield

Preferred Qualifications

* 8+ years ofexperience inRegulatory Compliance (prudential regulations), Legal field, Risk

Management, Governance,orrelatedfield

* 2+ years of experience working with regulatory requirements applicable to Human Resources and Finance

* Familiarity with Regulation O (Loans to Insiders), Regulation W (Transactions with Affiliates), and

Reg G (Community Reinvestment Act)

* Working knowledge of Governance, Risk, and Control (GRC) systems

* Strong Excel and/or data management skills

* Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager(CRCM)

* Project Management Professional

* JD, CERP, CRMP, or similar preferred
