https://poultry-science.uark.edu/Summary of Job Duties:The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture and the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences at the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville invite applications for a 12-month, tenure-track assistant or associate professor with an appointment in the Department of Poultry Science (80%) and Department of Food Science (20%). The appointment will consist of effort expectations of research (80%) and teaching (20%).

The successful candidate will be expected to develop an extramurally funded research program around the microbiological safety of poultry and poultry products and/or the techniques used in their processing. The successful candidate must be able to direct and advise graduate students and have an interest in teaching food safety, HACCP, and/or meat microbiology principles at an undergraduate/graduate level. The successful candidate will supervise a microbiology laboratory with a research emphasis on post-harvest poultry microbiology and food safety. Excellent opportunities exist for active collaboration with current faculty within the Center of Excellence for Poultry Science as well as faculty from the Departments of Food Science, Animal Science, and Biological and Agricultural Engineering. The candidate is expected to be active in the Center for Food Safety.

The successful candidate will work in the Center of Excellence for Poultry Science (CEPS), which includes Department of Poultry Science faculty and affiliated Division of Agriculture and USDA-ARS scientists. The CEPS is housed in the John W. Tyson building, a 112,000 square foot laboratory, classroom, and office complex located on the campus of the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. The CEPS also includes a poultry research farm, a pilot processing plant, feed mill, poultry health and isolation unit, and commercial style research farms for broilers.Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in Microbiology, Poultry Science, Food Science, or closely related discipline is required.

Evidence of demonstrated research ability, and oral and written communication is essential.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to establish relationships with industry.
