Job Description
FULL TIME: Thursday to Friday 1:00 AM to 11:00 AM

SUMMARY: Charges, melts, and pours molten metal into molds by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
 
  • Charges and melts metal for the pouring of molds.
  • Performs tapping of metal from the furnace to ladle and from the ladle to the molds.
  • Fills out all required paperwork.
  • Checks the furnace for proper amperage and water temperature.
  • Pours and melts a wide variety of alloys.
  • Makes corrective adds to the furnace as requested by the lab or paper work.
  • Knocks out and relines the furnaces.
  • Sets up the pouring beds as needed.
  • Performs duties in a safe manner and follows all of the safety procedures.
  • Require training in applicable work instructions, QA procedures, & quality polices
  • Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat.  The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
