Job Description
FULL TIME: 2nd Shift (2:30 PM - 11:00 PM)

SUMMARY:

Maintains production equipment and buildings to ensure that they are in good condition and operating correctly by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  • Obtains working knowledge of all equipment and supporting functions.
  • Assesses condition of equipment and makes recommendations to supervision as to what plan of action to take in order to facilitate repairs.
  • Repairs and inspects all equipment to keep in working order with minimal supervision.
  • Reads and understands blueprints, drawings, and manuals.
  • Provides directions and training to less experienced employees.
  • Carries out new construction and fabrication projects by understanding blueprints, selects materials and implements construction or fabrication projects through completion.
  • Repairs and troubleshoots minor electrical malfunctions.
  • Has knowledge and is capable of using Welding (stick & wire), cutting & plasma torches, assorted hand tools, and measuring and layout equipment.
  • Performs preventative maintenance inspections.
  • Generates work orders and assists with the ordering of parts to correct problems found as a result of preventative maintenance inspections.  Completes all required paperwork.
  • Performs duties in a safe manner and follows all the safety procedures.
  • Undergoes required training in applicable work instructions, Quality Assurance procedures, and Quality practices.
  • Works a reasonable amount of overtime including daily and weekends as production and/or repairs require.
  • Covers weekend non-working hours, on a rotational basis, being on call by carrying a company cell phone.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent, and two to four years of maintenance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to perform shop mathematics including: fractions, decimals, area calculations. Metric conversions, and calculations used in verifying hydraulic circuits. 

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception.  Equipment repairs/installations may require working within close quarters, on or around production equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment varies from low to high based on the department they are working in.  Hearing protection may be required based on the area of work.
