We are looking for an energetic, self-starter whom has a strong desire to join our Manufacturing New Product Introduction (NPI) Project Management Team (MFG NPI PM). The Manufacturing NPI PM for Varian's Oncology business is responsible for leading technology transitions from Engineering to Manufacturing as part of NPI based in our Palo Alto and other design and Manufacturing locations.

The Project Manager drives inputs into the Engineering design process to ensure the completion of all manufacturing deliverables for the transition and release of the new product.

The Project Manager will:

  • Manage the development and implementation process of the company's products and services.
  • Coordinate departmental and cross-functional teams, focused on the delivery of new and upgrading existing products.
  • Monitor the project from initiation through delivery including planning and directing schedules and monitoring budget/spending.
  • Organize cross-functional activities, ensuring completion of the project's deliverables, schedule, and budget.


Responsibilities

  • Establish partnerships with internal stakeholders and vendors to build support, secure resource allocations, and ensure alignment for project deliverables and schedule commitments.
  • For each project, develop a project plan. Identify risks to project success and create mitigation plans.
  • Articulate the major requirements of a Manufacturing product transition, identifying tracks of work across all Manufacturing sites for each program.
  • Quickly gain a strong understanding of Varian's Product Life Cycle, product release processes, requirements, and manufacturing requirements, and production processes.
  • Build an understanding for Varian's engineering change process, guiding Engineering Change authors and contributors to meet committed timelines for project milestones.
  • For each project, facilitate discussions on critical design inputs from Manufacturing as part of the product development effort. Leverage manufacturing principles (e.g., Design for X) and internal complaint requests as a basis for enhancing the Manufacturing and Field requirements/deliverables.
  • Ensure product/process quality by adhering to Varian's Quality initiatives,Product Life Cycleand regulatory standards. Work to drive new process adoption and to prevent premature product release.


Position Requirements

  • BA/BS in engineering or sciences or a technical discipline; and 6-8 years of experience in a Manufacturing environment.
  • 5 years demonstrated experience in Project Management-related tasks.
  • Demonstrated success in execution of complex, cross-disciplinary projects, ideally involving NPI and/or technology transitions.
  • Experience working with manufacturing of medical devices, or complex $200K+ capex instrumentation.
  • Experience with SAP/ERP, ADLM systems, TFS, MS -TEAMs, Microsoft Office.
  • Position located in Palo Alto, California.

The base pay range for this position is

Min $105,500 - Max $189,800

The pay wage range shown is based on the job posting's primary location. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications, and location.
