ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST - FORT WORTH, TX

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our Fort Worth office. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.

Duties and Responsibilities
    Communicating and collaborating with project managers, engineers, clients, and government agencies to conduct critical environmental issues analyses following industry and company standards. This may include:
  • Field delineation of wetlands and other waters of the U.S.,
  • Section 404 permitting through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers,
  • Conducting tree inventories and preparing tree preservation and mitigation plans,
  • Preparing stormwater pollution prevention plans and conduct stormwater inspections,
  • Conducting water and soil sampling,
  • Conducting Threatened and Endangered species investigations,
  • Conducting cultural resource inquiries,
  • Conducting Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments,
  • Utilizing ArcGIS Pro to prepare GIS-based exhibits and data management,
  • Utilizing GPS and GNSS units for field surveying and mapping,
  • Function as support staff to existing business lines (land development and oil & gas).
  • General project assistance for report preparation, peer-reviews, technical writing guidance, GIS support, and organizational assistance to meet strict deadlines.
  • Supporting projects for different markets within Westwood - aviation, land development, renewables and public infrastructure.
  • Ability to work in the office and out in the field during all times of the year.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Required Skills
  • Strong attention to detail, able to clearly communicate verbally, comfortable talking in front of people, excellent written communication skills, and able to respond professionally to both internal and external comments.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, technical writing, and research skills.
  • Dependable, self-starting team player.
  • Organized and able to work effectively in both a team environment and with minimal supervision.
  • The ability to interact successfully with co-workers, clients and regulatory agencies is essential.
Required Experience
  • Degree in a natural resource-related field with 0-3 years of experience.
  • Proven ability to work productively on multiple projects simultaneously under strict deadlines.
  • Must have the ability to travel periodically to project locations across the State of Texas.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
