Gundersen Health System is seeking a part time Behavioral Health Specialist for the Inpatient Behavioral Health department. What you will work:

  • .6 FTE = 48 hours every 2 weeks

  • 12 hours shifts (7:30am - 8:00pm)

  • Every 3rd weekend rotation and 2 holiday's a year

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or Psychology or Sociology or a related human service field

  • 1 year experience working in human services field or health care setting

Job Description:

To provide physical and psychological care to patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse while upholding the Trauma Informed Care philosophy. This position assists with the implementation of daily program activities for behavioral health patients. Provides support for the patients' emotional and social needs. This position also monitors and identifies anything needed to promote safe patient care.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Provides developmentally appropriate supportive interaction with counseling and monitoring of patients in a 1:1 or group setting.

2. Assess changes in patient's behavior and notifies the RN.

3. Assists the treatment team and partner with patient in developing and modifying Behavioral Health Plan of Care for patients.

4. Partners with the treatment team to encourage patient compliance with Behavioral Health Plan of Care and participation in activities.

5. Assists RN with admission, transfer, and discharge process.

6. Facilitates educational groups.

7. Participates in family meetings.

8. Documents in EPIC.

9. Demonstrates role accountability by adhering to Gundersen Health System statements, policies, and confidentiality statement.

10. Performs other job-related responsibilities as requested.

Education and Learning:

REQUIRED

Bachelor's degree in Social Work or Psychology or Sociology or a related human service field

Work Experience:

REQUIRED

1 year experience working in human services field or health care setting.

DESIRED

1 year experience working in behavioral health

License and Certifications:

DESIRED

Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (with hands on learning) from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
