About This Position

ChristianaCare is searching for a Capital Contract Manager to be responsible for system wide sourcing, negotiating and contracting as part of overall supply expense reduction initiatives for ChristianaCare. This position is responsible for the administration of system contracts including bid preparation, coordination of data collection, vendor negotiations, preparation of contractural agreements, and vendor performance monitoring and analysis.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

Manages contracts via GPO or Local agreements and/or a bid process that encourages competition from any supplier with the capacity, quality and service to meet the needs of Christiana Care in a timely fashion.

Coordinates and consults with department heads, physicians, managers, etc. in matters pertaining to the selection and use of products and services throughout the system with the aim of achieving standardization and cost reduction system wide.

Develops product specifications in coordination with requesting department, clinical engineering, etc.

Reviews historical trend and expense data, identifies cost reduction opportunities, investigates product options and market dynamics, and defines sourcing strategies

Issues "Request for Proposals" (RFPs)

Analyzes RFP responses and prepares comprehensive comparative documentation for each acquisition

Conducts contract negotiations

Develop spreadsheets, both technical and financial, with purchase recommendations. Presents results to team/department, as appropriate.

Insures legal, ethical, and financial parameters are being adhered to, including ensuring that Christiana Care's Conflict of Interest policy is being followed by all parties involved in any bid situation/contract negotiation.

Identifies contract and savings opportunities and/or non-compliance issues.

Serves on committees such as Supply Value Analysis Committee, New Product Review Committee, Technology Management, Construction Coordination, and committees as appropriate.

Meets regularly with Purchasing leadership for direction and to maintain consistent and open communication on workload, progress on projects, problem resolution, exchange of ideas, etc.

Works with other Material Management Departments to address issues affecting Storeroom and general Supply Chain effectiveness.

Works with Finance Department to supply and/or analyze data as needed for new product financial analyses, supply expense reduction initiatives, etc.

Maintains composure, good judgment and acceptable work performance under stressful conditions caused by deadlines, workload, situational crisis, opposition or other causes

Serves as a resource to customers and effectively aids all departments to obtain accurate specifications for new supplies and equipment.

Education and experience requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare, or related field required. Master's Degree preferred.
  • Four years of hospital capital purchasing experience..
  • Healthcare industry experience preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
