ChristianaCare is currently seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for our Clinical Practice Coordinator position at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center in Newark, DE. This individual will also provide leadership support to our infusion team in Elkton, MD. Direct reports include 17 RNs and 2 Medical Assistants.

The Clinical Practice Coordinator will assist the Clinical Director Cancer Center Infusion with primary responsibility for the daily operation of the office, ensuring adequate staffing, supplies, and patient flow resulting in excellent service to our patients. To provide supervision of the non-exempt office staff assistants and medical assistants. To provide nursing care and assume responsibility and accountability for patients during their office visit and follow up between visits.

***To be considered for this role, oncology and/or infusion experience is required.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

No weekends or holidays

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates daily services and program delivery of the practice site location.
  • Leads and supervises daily functioning of practice location and staff, including staff performance expectations and counseling as appropriate.
  • Coordinates office staff schedule, tracking staff time and attendance.
  • Ensures staff is providing immediate service recovery, intervening as necessary.
  • In coordination with practice manager, creates conditions to provide for staff engagement, including staff development goals and programs.
  • Participates in staff recruitment, selection, and hiring processes, with lead responsibility for staff orientation.
  • Provides staff with ongoing training and development as required.
  • Supervises daily practice and individual clinician scheduling, billing, and productivity ensuring daily prior authorization and referral management.
  • Provides guidance to staff regarding insurance requirements and changes.
  • Leads expertise on office scheduling and billing (front and back office), providing front office functions as needed while modeling service excellence.
  • Ensures that staff optimize clinician templates and schedules to maximize patient access and care delivery
  • Ensures that any patient/family billing questions are addressed by staff appropriately intervening as
    necessary
  • Serves as information/communication liaison between office staff and practice manager/supervisor, conducting regular staff meetings and utilizing numerous other forms of effective two-way communication.
  • Leads site improvement initiatives as directed by practice manager
  • Accountability for petty cash process and auditing
  • Provides site location medical and supply inventory control; supply request to Practice Manager
  • Monitors practice budget and expenses including CME accounts in collaboration with the Practice Manager
  • Provides site facility management and liaison to Practice Manager
  • Coordinates on-site IT support
  • Conducts patient safety and regulatory readiness audits per guidelines established by the Practice Manager; Safety first learning reporting per guidelines.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including knowledge of growth and development, the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs, and provide the care needed
  • Assesses patient/family's learning needs and carries out teaching measures
  • Interacts with patient between visits regarding testing results, medications, home care, and problems
  • Collaborates with team members to provide a smooth, organized and efficient flow of patients
  • Administers medications safely
  • Responds to patient crisis situations
  • Demonstrates compliance with Christiana Care Health Services center and departmental policies and procedures and mandatory education requirements including but not limited to safety, infection control, attendance and dress code
  • Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Minimum 5 years office practice experience; supervisory skills preferred.

Special Requirements

  • Current license by State of Delaware
  • BCLS certification
