Job Title: Construction Lead Estimator

Job Overview: The Construction Lead Estimator position performs all estimating duties required during the pre-construction stage. They are responsible for evaluating projects from a cost perspective utilizing the available construction and engineering industry standards. This position focuses on the bigger and most challenging projects. They support the Business Development Department in the pursue of new projects and the Operations Department in the transition from the pre-construction phase to the actual building of the projects.

1 Analyze requirement documents and project plans and specifications to gain a thorough understanding of the project
2 Perform takeoffs
3 Review and submit RFI's in a timely manner
4 Estimate material, labor & equipment costs
5 Determine what factors of production will influence the cost of the project
6 Evaluate and vet suppliers and sub-contractor’s quotes
7 Participate in bid review meetings
8 Perform the Estimating/Operation transfers
9 Participate in the bid & outstanding meetings
10 Prepare and submit proposals
11 Interact with clients prior and after bid submittal
12 Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits
13 Assist in the development of preliminary designs
14 Peer review other estimators’ work
15 Attend meetings with Business Development to close projects

Qualifications:
  • Minimum experience: 4 years in estimating (Construction industry, preferably heavy civil with focus on geotechnical)
  • Education level: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Proficient in mathematics, statistics, and data analysis
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Report writing and strategic planning skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
