1888 Management is looking for a Counsel-Attorney that will provide legal support as a part of our in-house legal team. This is an exciting opportunity that will provide comprehensive legal counsel to a diverse clientele, ranging from startups to an established family office. you will be responsible for providing expert guidance and strategic advice to individuals, businesses, and organizations regarding their tax planning needs. Your role will involve analyzing financial data, staying abreast of tax laws and regulations, and developing innovative tax strategies to optimize clients' financial positions while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. You will collaborate closely with clients, financial advisors, and legal teams to implement effective tax planning solutions tailored to each client's unique circumstances.


What You Will Do

  • Legal Consultation: Provide legal advice and strategic guidance to business executives and various departments on a wide range of business-related matters.
  • Tax Strategy Development: Develop comprehensive tax strategies for the family office to minimize tax liabilities while maximizing financial outcomes.
  • Tax Analysis and Research: Conduct thorough analysis of clients' financial information, tax returns, and relevant documents to identify tax planning opportunities and potential risks. Stay updated on changes in tax laws, regulations, and rulings to ensure accurate and effective tax planning advice.
  • Client Consultation: Provide expert advice and guidance to clients on various tax matters, including income tax, estate tax, gift tax, and other relevant areas. Communicate complex tax concepts and strategies in a clear and understandable manner to clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with clients' financial advisors, legal teams, and other professionals to develop integrated tax planning solutions that align with clients' overall financial goals and objectives.
  • Tax Optimization Strategies: Develop and implement innovative tax optimization strategies, such as tax-efficient investment structures, retirement planning strategies, and charitable giving strategies, to minimize tax burdens and enhance clients' long-term financial success.
  • Contract Review and Drafting: Review, draft, and negotiate various contracts and agreements, including but not limited to, vendor contracts, customer agreements,
  • Compliance: Ensure the company complies with all relevant laws and regulations, including but not limited to, corporate governance, data protection, intellectual property, and industry-specific regulations.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess legal risks associated with business decisions and provide proactive recommendations to mitigate these risks.
  • Litigation Management: Collaborate with external counsel when necessary to manage litigation, disputes, and legal proceedings involving the company.
  • Policy Development: Assist in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of tax planning strategies, recommendations, and client communications. Generate reports and presentations summarizing tax planning initiatives and outcomes for clients and internal stakeholders.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
  • Experience using MS Powerpoint to create presentations, and excel to organize and analyze data.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax planning, accounting, or related field, with a proven track record of success in developing and implementing tax strategies for individuals and businesses.
  • Experience applying working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements in a professional role
  • Experience analyzing complex financial data and identify tax planning opportunities and risks
  • Experience working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Experience in document review and drafting
