Position Description:
Ryerson has an opportunity for a Slitter Operator (1st Shift). As a Slitter Operator (1st Shift), you are responsible for accurate material and scrap utilization, specification and raw material management.

Roles and Responsibilities:

*Daily Slitter machine setup and operation at maximum production with efficient scrap utilization
*Conduct daily prestart inspections on all required equipment/machines and identify potential issues
*Calibration of measuring equipment (checking measuring equipment, i.e. tape measures, each day prior to using it in the course of a shift)
*Basic machine maintenance, including assisting maintenance personnel during breakdowns
*Operating Overhead Crane, Forklift, and/or Sideloader to stage and pull material as needed
*Part and packaging inspection to ensure quality specifications
*Work order confirmation to ensure size, material grade, and overall accuracy of feedstock and finished goods
*All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Position Requirements:
*3-5 years of experience as a skilled Slitter machine operator preferred
*Regular attendance, including being on time and ready to work at assigned start time
*Ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision and hearing, as well as mobility and lifting requirements
*Great attitude and team player
*Ability to work assigned overtime, at times with short notice
*Ability to find, enter, and print information on a computer as necessary
*Successfully pass the Ramsay Corporation Combined Basic Skills Assessment which evaluates your reading, math, inspection & measurement, and process monitoring & problem-solving skills.
