Century Engineering is seeking a motivated Water/Wastewater Project Engineer to work on challenging and exciting projects (both public and private) in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Position requires a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field with 3+ years of experience in water & wastewater design, or a related field. Primarily reporting to the Dover, Delaware office with possibility of being located in the Newark, Delaware office, successful candidates will perform engineering tasks in the water/wastewater field through application of relevant design criteria, standards, and processes.

Responsibilities:
    Direct and coordinate Water/Wastewater activities of several disciplines on everything from major water/wastewater projects to projects of moderate scope or a combination of smaller projects
  • Lead all design efforts in accordance with current regulations
  • Work with clients, staff engineers, designers and subconsultants on multiple concurrent projects from planning through final design, construction, and commissioning
  • Coordinate with regulatory and funding agencies
  • Mentor less experienced staff and serve as a leader improving the latest technologies in wastewater planning, design, and construction methods
  • Plan, organize, and communicate project personnel needs to executive team
  • Assist in direction of project planning, budgeting, and establishing critical project objectives. May initiate or assist in contract negotiations or preparation
  • Occasionally travel to project/client sites to complete tasks or attend meetings
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field required
  • 3 to 5 years direct engineering design experience in municipal water and wastewater treatment systems, pumping stations, and distribution and collection systems including hydraulic modeling
  • Registration as an Engineering Intern (EI) and/or a Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
  • Experience in coordination with all aspects of a project a plus
  • Project engineering experience with preparing and monitoring budgets and schedules a plus
  • Familiarity with issues related to water/wastewater systems including master planning, collection/distribution, and pumping, with an emphasis on design and operations, and intimate knowledge of regulatory approval process
  • Must have ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of industry, government, and public contacts on project-related matters
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office
  • AutoCAD and/or MicroStation skills desirable
  • Valid driver's license with demonstrated safe driving practices
