Century Engineering is currently looking for a Survey Crew Leader to perform a variety of tasks associated with land surveying and civil engineering in our Newark, DE office.

Survey crew leader responsibilities:

Records Keeping: maintain records and data pertaining to the work being performed, the working conditions, the crew personnel, and materials for the project.

Scheduling: Able to schedule work activities to perform the task on time and within budget.

Coordination: Able to coordinate with team personnel to accomplish the tasks each crew member is responsible for.

Project management: Able to manage the survey tasks and coordinate with other construction individuals and departments to safely and correctly perform the survey tasks needed for each project.

Operate survey equipment: Have a good knowledge of the equipment used by survey personnel including, but not limited to robotic equipment, total stations, GPS equipment, levels, measuring chains and tapes, data collectors and some software.

Crew mentorship: Able to teach and mentor instrument and chain operators on each crew. a crew leader should be able to pass on the knowledge and safety habits clearly and concisely that the individual has gained through their experiences.

Crew leader skills:

Leadership, communication, problem-solving, organization, safety and math abilities are all qualities of a good crew leader.


Position Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil and transportation related surveying is preferred.
- A high school diploma, or equivalent, is required
- Ability to work effectively with other technical professionals
- Ability to write legibly and convey technical information as well as the ability to effectively present information, communicate, and respond to questions from groups of co-workers, clients, and the public
- Valid driver's license with demonstrated safe driving practices
- The ability to obtain background clearances to permit working on-site for certain clients is required
- Physical Requirements:
- Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
- Ability to carry survey equipment and supplies in remote, rugged, rural or urban surroundings
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and walk long distances
- Required to stand for long periods of time and/or walk long distances
- Must be able to work overtime as needed
- The ability to work outside, in all types of weather, is a requirement
