Position Description:
Based in Stow, OH and part of the Ryerson Family of Companies, Specialty Metals Processing (SMP) is an industry leading processor of quality metals including Stainless Steel, Aluminum, High Nickel Alloys and Titanium that specializes in metal grinding, buffing and polishing finishes for sheet, plate and coil.

As an Operations Supervisor you are responsible for focusing on team safety, delivering a quality product, developing effective and skilled teams, and meeting operational metrics.

This position is 2nd shift. The hours for this position are Monday - Friday from 3:30pm to 1:00am.

Roles and Responsibilities:
* Direct the efficient function of plant operations, including daily supervision of up to 30 warehouse employees
* Provide leadership to direct reports, including coaching and counselling employees as necessary
* Understand production and quality goals; implement actions necessary to meet objectives
* Supervise the filling of time-sensitive orders and coordinate shipments
* Provide daily reporting
* Ensure all required training is completed and oversee completion of training checklist
* Understand customer requirements, participate and advise on decisions regarding suitability of material and processing capabilities
* Provide direction and coaching on safe work practices and support safety goals
* Review unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actions are carried out to eliminate workplace hazards

Position Requirements:

* High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
* 3 - 5 years of supervisory experience in a warehouse or manufacturing setting
* Knowledge in cut to length, grinding, slitting, polishing and waterjets is an asset
* Sound knowledge of various employment laws (i.e. OHSA) and government regulations (i.e. DOT)
* Trained and certified to use a fork lift and crane, as well as first aid certified
* Proficient knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* Demonstrated verbal, written and interpersonal skills
* Effective problem solving and decision making skills
