Job Description

Thomas Jefferson University Health System (TJUH) and the Sidney Kimmel Medical College(SKCC) is seeking a board-certified Adult Cardiothoracic Heart Transplant Surgeon at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor Level in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery in the Department of Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University. We are seeking a patient focusedsurgeon who can perform all aspects of cardiac surgery along with particular experience and a passion for heart transplant. Position Description:

  • Candidates will be proficient in all aspects of adult cardiothoracic and vascular surgery with advanced expertise in heart transplantation, mechanical assist devices and ECMO.
  • Strong knowledge of cardiac transplantation management guidelines, evidence-based practices, and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Join a large, dynamic, multidisciplinary hospital-employed Cardiology group of Cardiothoracic surgeons, Non-Invasive Cardiologists, Interventional Cardiologists, Electrophysiologists, Advanced Heart Failure and Heart Transplant Cardiologists in Philadelphia. Jefferson heart transplant program, has one of the highest VAD procedures programs in the Philadelphia region and leading heart failure research and clinical trials.

Qualifications:

  • Board certification by the American Board of Thoracic Surgeons
  • Fellowship training in heart transplantation or advanced heart failure surgery.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in heart transplantation preferred
  • Proven leadership experience preferably from a large and busy institution demonstrating strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with both private practice and employed groups
  • Candidates must hold or have the ability to obtain the appropriate medical licenses in the state of Pennsylvania

The Cardiothoracic Surgery Division provides services exclusively to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Abington Hospital. The practice includes an active heart transplant program based at TJUH and assist device programs (including Destination Therapy Programs) at both sites. Surgical procedures including, TAVR, LVADrsquo;s, MitraClip, minimally invasive valve surgery, complex aortic surgery, endovascular stent grafting for thoracic aortic disease and advance heart failure treatments.
