Resource Strategy Leader

Job Summary

Albemarle is looking for an experienced resources professional to join the lithium resources group to build a world class resource strategy and optimization improvement function.

The Resource Strategy Leader will establish collaborative and influential relationships across our portfolio of resource assets to design, build and implement leading portfolio optimization and strategy evaluation systems. The role will work with operational, technical, project and functional support staff to align, problem solve and deliver against key strategic and operational objectives across our mining portfolio.

This is a new role that will support the current and future growth anticipated in the lithium resources group, and will have global responsibility. The successful candidate will need to proactively operate with skill, autonomy, and agility to build a resource strategy function that is sought after by senior leadership because of the insights and results that are delivered.

This position is part of the lithium resources organization and will report to the Vice-President Resources Development and Business Planning.

Essential Functions

  • Lead the development of a global resources asset strategy and optimization

  • Assist with development of portfolio optimization and evaluation tools

  • Design and deliver reports on constraints, options, risks and opportunities across our portfolio of mining to executive leadership

  • Provide back-up support to Vice President on resource development, business planning and other resource projects as needed

  • Conduct original research and development on cutting edge mine planning and resource modeling systems through independent study or collaboration with academic and/or industry groups

  • Provide expert advice and training on the application of operations research and machine learning methodology and tools

  • Build credibility and influence with identified internal and external key stakeholders

  • Enable and support a world-class team culture

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Engineering / Science in a resource related field (Mining / Geology / Metallurgy)

  • Minimum 15 years of global resource experience (USA + Australia highly regarded)

  • Advanced Strategic and Business/Financial planning and analysis experience

  • Advanced operations and business optimization modeling experience

  • Demonstrated project management leadership

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Advanced degree in relevant field highly regarded
