HJF is seeking a Analytical Toxicologist 3 to serve as a Supervisory Analytical Toxicologist/Analyst performing analyses on biological specimens. This position will be in support of the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System (AFMES).

This position is contingent on contract award.

Responsibilities
    Serve as subject matter expert to the military drug testing community as well as the AFMES postmortem mission.
  • Lead research and analytical projects, supervise and review data of junior personnel, schedule personnel and equipment resources, introduce ideas for method development based on analytical challenges experienced within AFMES and the postmortem/human performance drug testing community.
    Implement research and method development ideas post completion.
  • Serve as an expert in the area of Forensic Toxicology for AFMES and for the Department of Defense (DoD) Drug Testing Program.
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to providing screening and confirmation data, quantitative data, full scan mass spectra, corrective action measures, SOP revisions, SOP Updates, SOP improvements, chair research teams, participate (as an analyst) in research programs, develop, complete and implement research improvements and perform all special testing as directed by laboratory management.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and consultant for the DoD Military Drug Testing Program.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of applicable complex scientific procedures and techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and supervise others.

Physical Capabilities

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
Qualifications

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in a laboratory setting.

Education and Experience

  • Doctoral Degree required.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years experience required.
