HJF is seeking a Analytical Toxicologist 5 to serve as an administrator, director, supervisor, analyst and/or as laboratory support oversight. This position will be in support of the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System (AFMES).

This position is contingent on contract award.

Responsibilities
    Serve as a consultant, supervisor, administrator and analyst to the military drug testing community as well as the Office of the Armed Forces Medical Examiner.
  • Direct laboratory operations schedule, direct and supervise analysts, technicians, clerical and administrative support personnel, Chair Research and analytical projects, introduce ideas for method development and improvement, implement research and method development ideas post completion and serve as an expert in the area of Forensic Toxicology.
  • Duties may include perform complete review all analytical data, make decisions based on scientific evidence and case history for final case review and signature to the Director, Toxicology Operations, provide screening and confirmation data, quantitative data, full scan mass spectrum analysis, corrective action measures, SOP revisions, SOP updates, SOP improvements, chair research teams, participate (as an analyst) in research programs, complete and implement research improvements and perform any special testing as directed by laboratory management, assist in budget planning, predictive purchasing, and contract development to minimize risks of critical reagent shortages and loss of instrument usage due to maintenance problems.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of applicable complex scientific procedures and techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and supervise others.

Physical Capabilities

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
Qualifications

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in a laboratory setting.

Education and Experience

  • Doctoral Degree required.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience required.
