Job Description
RK&K is seeking a dedicated and strong Project Resident Engineer to support complex highway/bridge construction projects for the Department of Transportation in Delaware. The ideal Resident Engineer will have at least fifteen years of construction inspection experience including roadway and structure construction methods, materials, standards and specifications. Essential Functions

  • Provide construction management, supervision, and leadership for an inspection staff on a large or complex highway construction project
  • Fully engage in solving problems to provide technical evaluation and sound solutions while independently coordinating and directing all phases of construction inspection on complex highway projects
  • Oversight of project record-keeping, scheduling and DOT reporting as required
  • Ability to conduct scheduled project progress meetings for the client as required
  • Ability to communicate effectively across different platforms with project staff, DelDOT personnel, stakeholders, contractors, and the general public
  • Working knowledge of Oracle and Microsoft Office products

Required Experience

  • Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years (DelDOT preferred) highway infrastructure inspection experience for construction methods, materials, standards, and specifications
  • Previous construction project management experience
  • Understanding of QA/QC development and execution process
  • Knowledge of construction materials, standards, and specifications related to DOT highway infrastructure projects and facilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Application of mathematical formulas and engineering principles
  • Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Office products

Other Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and favorable driving record
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
