SUMMARY The Senior Manager of Technical Accounting will be primarily responsible for the analysis and communication of complex, technical accounting considerations within the organization. The role will report to the Director of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting. This position can be remote.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Research, summarize, and advise the Company on the expected accounting and financial reporting and disclosure implications of significant routine and non-routine transactions, including revenue recognition, leases, related parties, investments, equity compensation, and business combinations.
  • Monitor communications from regulatory bodies, accounting firms and other external sources to remain apprised of new accounting practices and regulations, frequent areas of focus for SEC staff comment letters, and interpretive accounting and disclosure guidance and provide guidance regarding potential impacts to operational and reporting processes as well as financial results.
  • Participate in the implementation of new accounting standards and internal accounting policies.
  • Serve as a resource regarding appropriate and consistent application of accounting policies.
  • Assist in the preparation or review of financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A supporting workpapers.
  • Assist in the preparation or review of quarterly earnings materials (or other materials prepared by Investor Relations) and ensure accuracy and consistency of such materials with other SEC filings, as applicable.
  • Ensure appropriate internal controls and procedures are in place and maintain compliance with SOX requirements for applicable technical accounting processes.
  • Participate in the development of accounting and reporting standards through direct interaction with standard setters or through participation in industry groups, and development of proposed comment letters.
  • Prepare presentations for senior management, business unit management, and the Audit Committee regarding matters on accounting standards developments.
  • Participate in proxy statement preparation.
  • Assist with XBRL mapping/tagging of financial statements and related footnotes.
  • Collaborate with the team on prioritizing and implementing best practices within the organization.
  • Ad hoc projects under the direction of controllership leadership team which would necessitate fostering a team-driven environment, providing clear business communication, integration and change management support.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or related field preferred
  • 8+ years Big 4 experience, including project management and technical accounting experience and education
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Experience with Workiva is preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • CPA preferred

COMPETENCIES (SKILLS AND ABILITIES)

  • Deep knowledge in U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), SEC accounting and disclosure rules and the standard setting process; knowledge of IFRS and statutory accounting preferred
  • Ability to research accounting issues and develop well-reasoned conclusions on complex accounting issues in accordance with current pronouncements and company policies
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to converse with individuals at all levels of the organization on complex issues
  • Strong experience in reviewing contractual arrangements to evaluate accounting implications
  • Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication, planning, and leadership skills
