Position Description:
Joseph T. Ryerson & Son, Inc., a leading distributor and processor of metals in North America, serving customers through a network of service centers across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and China, is currently seeking an Sr. Tax Manager to join our Corporate Tax team headquartered in downtown Chicago, IL. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role within the department by ensuring all facets of income tax compliance are covered, including, but not limited to:

* Coordinate, review and manage the preparation of the consolidated federal and all applicable state and local income tax return filings
* Effectively manage the compliance process to develop strategies to achieve continuous improvement with respect to efficiency and quality
* Establish and maintain a system of coordinated interaction with the business units to stay abreast of all tax related issues
* Coordinating with outside consultants on special projects and performing certain calculations within the returns (e.g. Transfer Pricing, LIFO, Depreciation)
* Coordinate federal and state audits
* Quarterly ASC 740 accounting
* Tax planning and other special projects
* Mentoring of department personnel

Position Requirements:
* 7+ years, mix of public accounting and industry preferred
* Prior management experience, preferably within a corporate tax environment
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA and/or MST preferred
* Overall proficiency with software systems, including competence in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
* Experience with SAP and OneSource Tax Software preferred
* Highly organized, detail oriented, and self-motivated individual capable of monitoring and prioritizing competing tasks and projects
* Team player attitude and adept at multi-level communication
