Ryerson is currently seeking a Warehouse Operations Supervisor to our join warehouse team in Lansing, MI. The ideal candidate will have experience leading others to operational excellence while focusing on team safety, delivering a quality product, eliminating waste, developing effective and skilled teams and meeting operational metrics. Reporting to the Operations Manager, responsibilities include:

* Direct the efficient function of plant operations, including daily supervision of up to 15 warehouse employees
* Provide leadership to direct reports, including coaching and counselling employees as necessary
* Understand production and quality goals; implement actions necessary to meet objectives
* Supervise the filling of time-sensitive orders and coordinate shipments
* Ensure on-time deliveries and error-free shipments
* Facilitate problem solving and team building activities
* Carry out and support company policies, goals and objectives
* Provide daily reporting
* Ensure all required training is completed and oversee completion of training checklist
* Communicate with other departments within the facility, as well as other Ryerson locations
* Understand customer requirements, participate and advise on decisions regarding suitability of material and processing capabilities
* Provide direction and coaching on safe work practices and support safety goals
* Review unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actions are carried out to eliminate workplace hazards

Position Requirements:
* High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
* 3 - 5 years of supervisory experience in a warehouse setting
* Sound knowledge of various employment laws (i.e. OHSA) and government regulations (i.e. DOT)
* Solid understanding of all warehouse machine and equipment operations
* Experience with LEAN or CI is preferred
* Basic knowledge in mechanical, electrical, hydraulics is an asset
* Knowledge in Slitting, Cut to length, oxy fuel cutting, plasma cutting, and laser cutting is an asset
* Certifications in training obtained, e.g. fork lift, crane, first aid
* Proficient knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* Demonstrated verbal, written and interpersonal skills
* Effective problem solving and decision making skills
* Experience working in a team-focused environment
