POSITION DESCRIPTION AND SPECIFICATION
 
POSITION TITLE:   Quality Control Inspector                                                DATE:  April 2024

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Quality Control Inspector reports to the Quality Manager and is responsible for maintaining the quality and production oversight, maintaining customer quality requirements and facilitates continuous improvement activities; operates in compliance with company safety practices; and performs other duties as required.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  1. Oversees the quality systems insuring that quality, technical and operational objectives are met.
  2. Will be involved with the customer complaint system and corrective\preventive action program.
  3. Ensures only Calibrated tools are used in the manufacturing process.
  4. Assists the Quality Control Manager with daily production activities, ensuring that Quality is supporting the daily production objectives as possible.
  5. Facilitate quality improvement, continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
  6. Interfaces directly with customer representatives.
  7. Ensures that all work performed is in accordance with the company’s Quality Management System, and current company Policies and Procedures.
  8. Ensures that all Project paperwork packages are prepared in accordance with the Quality Management System, have assigned Work Order / Purchase Order numbers and Production personnel are fully trained on the Customers paperwork policies and procedures.
  9. Involved with receiving inspections on all incoming parts & materials, paying close attention to Purchase Order requirements, specifications related thereto, and associated paperwork.
  10. Ensures complete familiarity and compliance with the company‘s Quality Management System.
  11. Ensures that the Manufacturing data (drawings, specifications, etc.) are maintained in accordance with DCMA 8210 requirements. They must be orderly, complete and current and be available as needed.
  12. Report any damage, incident or injury immediately to the Manager of Safety, Director of Quality and The Quality Control Manager after an assessment is made and the situation is contained.
  13. Performs other duties as required.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  1. High School Diploma or GED is required.
  2. A&P License preferred, along with aircraft manufacturing and/or maintenance experience.
  3. Possess an ability to work in fast-pace and occasionally stressful environment while maintaining a high degree of flexibility, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  4. Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously. 
  5. Must have good working knowledge of MS Office including the creation of spreadsheets, quotes/customer letters, databases, and reports (Excel and MS Word).  Experience or ability to thoroughly learn CRM software, such as and Corridor and Outlook is needed. 
  6. Ability to work well with others in different departments, even when challenges arise (schedule, budget, etc.), resolving conflict successfully.
  7. Should hold excellent initiative and judgment to make recommendations for improvements in our processes and product offerings.   Individual will need to be assertive with vendors, and be able to effectively deal with demanding customers.
  8. Must be willing to undertake new responsibilities as business needs change.
  9. Presents self professionally and courteously with internal and external customers.
  10. A proven achiever with strong team-building and interpersonal communication skills and must be able to develop strong relationships with new and existing customers.
  11. Experience in lean manufacturing methods and continuous improvement processes preferred.
  12. Must have strong leadership and project management skills.
  13. Proven track record in implementing, monitoring and managing toward production, quality and safety metrics while achieving financial obligations.
  14. Strong analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills required.
  15. Must be able to focus on key tasks, prioritize duties, and manage multiple priorities.
  16. Exceptional communication skills are required.
  17. Must be willing to travel and work variable shifts when needed.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is frequently required to sit; walk, talk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop or crouch.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather conditions such as extreme cold and heat, work near moving mechanical parts and vibration and work in high, precarious places.  Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and work with explosives.  The noise level in the work environment falls within acceptable limits of OSHA guidelines.
