Job Description

This exciting position represents a critical role supporting the Materials Science Market Segment growth goals of doubling the contribution in the next 5 years.  Working closely with Product and Field Marketing, TA Instruments and the Materials Scientific Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and assessing market development opportunities in the areas of high performance materials characterization and analysis.

 

  • Identification and evaluation of global market development opportunities or unmet customer needs, related to workflows in the core materials science markets
  • Design and develop sales and marketing programs in support of new and existing initiatives
  • Close collaboration with Field Marketing, R&D and Product Management functions in Milford USA, Manchester UK and Delaware USA to ensure an open flow of "voice of the customer" information to the products design and development functions.
  • Active participation and support of industry and academic collaboration initiatives
  • Presentation of applications solutions and Waters technologies at seminars and conferences
  • Undertake domestic and overseas traveling to support of the work of the group and the field organization
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures (safety, employment, expenses, training etc).

 

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Chemistry or related fields of study.  Advanced degree preferred.
  • Two or more years professional experience (preferably in business development, market development or sales) in one of the following industry areas: Materials Characterization, Polymers or Consumer Product industries, or with an analytical instrument vendor supporting these industries.

Communication Skills:

  • Superior communicator with the ability to write and deliver high level technical and/or business presentations
  • Ability to collaborate in the writing and editing of scientific and marketing materials. 
  • Active Listener, with the ability to synthesize and communicate information from multiple sources into sound objectives, requirements, and deliverables, along with measures of their business impact.

Scientific/Technical Skills:

  • Practical and/or theoretical experience within the areas of Thermal Analysis, Rheology, Liquid Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry or Informatics.

Business Skills:

  • While a business degree is not required for this position, demonstrated competencies in market development, business development, technical marketing, product management, project management or marketing communications will be considered favorably.
