Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for specifying, installing, maintaining, and repairing audio visual systems throughout campus.

  • Installs, secures, and maintains equipment and cables for the College's technology enhanced classrooms.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains digital, analog and microprocessor-based electronic equipment such as video projectors, audio and video distribution systems, television displays, and digital signage.
  • Assists in the troubleshooting and repair of security cameras and access control systems.
  • Designs, troubleshoots, maintains, implements, repairs, and programs audio visual control systems from Extron, Crestron, and others.
  • Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems that cannot be solved solely by referencing to manufacturer manuals or similar documents.
  • Operates various test equipment in performance of these duties.
  • Prepares audiovisual and computer related equipment for classroom use.
  • Designs and implements security measures to prevent theft, loss, or damage of the equipment.
  • Creates documentation for use of equipment.
  • Consults with faculty, staff, and administrators about the design and installation of specialized equipment and/or unique or unusual applications.
  • Instructs faculty, staff, administrators, and community members in operations, uses, and applications of all audiovisual equipment including connection to Windows, Mac and mobile devices.
  • Initiates and monitors budget for parts. Maintains inventory of equipment.
  • Assists in the preparation of specifications and bids.
  • Initiates and monitors requests for new audio visual equipment.
  • Interviews and supervises any personnel working in the repair area.
  • Coordinates service of outside installation/repair contractors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Qualifications:

    • Education
      • Minimum of a 2-year degree/certificate in electronics (or related field) required.
      • Advanced courses in electronics or engineering preferred.
    • Experience
      • 3 years of audio visual repair required.
      • General knowledge of microprocessor-based electronic equipment required.
      • General knowledge of PC's and PC software required.
      • 3-5 years of training in the audio visual field preferred; experience repairing microprocessor-based equipment preferred; repair down to component level preferred.
      • Experience in a variety of computer software programs preferred.


    Working Conditions:

  • Operates sophisticated repair equipment including Sencore universal video analyzer, waveform analyzer pattern generator, low distortion audio generator, multimeter, oscilloscope, color bar/dot generator and other pieces of test equipment.
  • Required lifting heavy boxes and pieces of equipment.
  • Work involves lifting, reaching, stooping, crouching, and crawling.
  • Good eyesight and color vision is needed to inspect and work on small, delicate parts and good hearing to detect malfunctions revealed by sound.
  • Good dexterity of hands a plus.
  • This position requires a background check and drug screen.


  • Pay Grade:
    Classified 12 Hourly
