Job Description

Sartoriushas an exciting opportunity for a dynamic,self-motivated, Automation Engineer to lead the design and specifications for engineered products and services within our Bioprocess Solutions group, (upstream and downstream bioprocessing). If you are adept at automation architecture as well as the development of design specifications then please read on.

The Automation Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of automation design and specification related to Sartorius engineered products and services over the entire project lifecycle. The Automation Engineer will lead customer discovery meetings related to development, testing & integration as well as the development of functional design specifications to fully define Sartorius proposed solutions.

Working as part of a global organization the selected candidate will play a key role in the development of Sartorius's automation group supporting the North American market.

What you will accomplish together with us:

  • Lead customer discovery meetings related to automation, integration of Sartorius offering into customers overall automation architecture as well as the development of design specifications.
  • Primary interface with internal and external automation contacts to support quote development and project execution activities.
  • Actively engage in maintaining software libraries per applicable regulatory guidelines. (GAMP etc.,)
  • Execute software FAT and support of FAT/SAT activities
  • Specify and maintain hardware and software to support in-house testing, troubleshooting, and configuration of automation systems.

What will convince us:

  • A Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related degree.
  • 3+ years of experience in process automation, development, or testing in the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • 2+ years development experience with Emerson Delta-V or Allen Bradly automation platforms including interpreting PFD's, P&ID's, Functional Design Specifications, Electrical Schematics, and detailed automation design documents (Hardware & Software Design Specifications).
  • Experience in developing graphics for Delta-V or Allen Brady control systems.
  • Understanding of ISA-S88 Batch Standard and GAMP 5 - Risk-Based Approach to Compliant GxP Computerized Systems and regulatory requirements associated with cGMP manufacturing
  • Must be proficient in development platforms MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Visio.
  • Travel Requirements - Up to 15% Travel
