Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Reports to a maintenance supervisor and interacts with all hourly and salaried maintenance and production personnel.
  • Quickly and accurately troubleshoot major plant and processing equipment problems.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and predictive maintenance on plant and processing equipment.
  • Work with the maintenance supervisors in developing and implementing new ideas that will help drive improved productivity.
  • Ensure that all spare parts stocking levels are adequate to fully support all supported equipment.
  • Perform regular reviews of system performance, identifying problems and concerns and recommending and/or implementing technological changes to improve overall performance.
  • Position will be able to work on all mechanical jobs that have traditionally been performed by both the millwright and the pipe shop. They may be called to assist in the packaging areas as needed.

    • will be designed to dramatically increase one's technical proficiencies.

Qualifications:

  • Able to read and perform basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Basic computer skills such as keyboarding required.
  • Excellent customer service skills such as problem solving, timeliness, and follow-up required.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of maintenance principles and practices and have the interpersonal and technical skills necessary to repair mechanical, electrical and instrumentation problems in a positive and professional manner.
  • Must be able to react to machinery and system breakdowns and equipment problems in a proficient and positive manner.
  • Position's greatest challenge is to assist in improving overall efficiencies through effective mechanical, electrical and instrumentation troubleshooting and repair.
  • Position holder must have the ability to effectively communicate with project engineers to ensure that all packaging projects meet packaging technical objectives.
  • Position holder must possess a positive attitude and be self-motivated. He/she must be willing to work in all facets of the mechanical, electrical and instrumentation arena so as to upgrade his/her overall skill base.

Skills and Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily and have the necessary skills to include but not limited to:

  • The ability to communicate technical and non-technical information clearly
  • Proficient in basic math, chart and technical drawing reading
  • Excellent problem-solving, prioritizing and follow-up skills required.
  • Knowledge of safety programs and procedures
  • Available and willing to be contacted by phone in the event of an emergency and be able to work flexible schedules including weekends, late shifts and overtime

Working Conditions:

  • Occasional exposure to seasonal conditions such as rain, snow, wind, humidity and sun.
  • Standing, occasional walking, some lifting, and ascending and descending stairs. Exposure to seasonal temperatures. Working around moving equipment, working from ladders.
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; climb stairs and use ladders.
  • There is occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. In addition, may require movement of 55-gallon drums of chemicals using appropriate handling equipment.
  • The position is exposed to machines, chemicals and solvents. Must be able to operate simple and, or complex heavy-duty machinery, and wear all prescribed Personal Protective Equipment for extended periods of time.

  • The personal protective equipment described here are representative of those an employee must/might use to successfully perform the functions of this job safely.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to wear company authorized safety shoes; regularly required to use company authorized hearing protection.
  • The employee is frequently required to wear company-authorized safety glasses; frequently required to wear gloves.
  • The employee is occasionally required to use a respirator. Hairnets and beard nets are required.
