Job Description

Job Description

This student will work closely with Vertex Government Affairs and Public Policy function with a focus on Federal Government Affairs. The student will receive exposure to how Vertex interacts with stakeholders in Washington D.C. including but not limited to Members of Congress & their staffs, trade associations, patient advocacy partners & consultants.

Part Time Role: 20-30 Hours/Week, Onsite in Washington, DC Office

Job Description

  • Undertake research and develop written materials to support federal advocacy.
  • Attend industry or patient group briefings on Capitol Hill.
  • Conduct legislative analysis by reviewing legislative text and policy research.
  • Attend trade association, patient advocacy, think tank and Capitol Hill briefings
  • Prepare presentation materials, including original material.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, be a team player and be willing to work in an environment where individual initiative and accountability to the team are required.
  • Must be able to work with limited day-to-day supervision.
  • Understand how to interact in a corporate, professional environment.
  • Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience and strong skill required.
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or advanced degree
