Job Description
Fire Sprinkler Designer (WD30070729127)

What you will do

Sprinkler Designer Employees engage in the preparation of detailed Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings to assure the efficient and effective placement of our products and systems.

How you will do it
  • Design and layout sprinkler systems using specialized CAD software packages that are based on the AutoCAD platform.
  • Coordinate sprinkler system piping with other building components. Perform hydraulic calculations.
  • Read and interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications and contracts
  • Interpret and apply applicable NFPA standards to the design and/or layout of the sprinkler systems based on the building type, construction type, hazard classification and architectural features.
  • Perform field check of completed design to verify accuracy.
  • Work closely with the district contracting teams to understand the contract with the customer, the scheduling of the design process, and the delivery needs of the installation crew.
  • Coordinate deliveries of system materials to the job site to meet the optimum installation start date.
  • Read and interpret construction documents including drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Design and layout sprinkler systems.
  • Perform field checks of completed system designs. Communicate with AHJs, contractors, and other trades. Work closely with the district contracting team. Coordinate deliveries of system materials to the job site to meet the optimum POJ date.

Qualifications
What we look for

Required

  • MUST have fire sprinkler design experience
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office, SprinkCAD, and a hydraulic calculation program.
  • For mapping the current population of designers, an equivalent CAD design program to SprinkCAD
  • Visualizes 3D concepts and solves basic mathematic problems, including geometry and algebra.
  • Proficient in interpreting and applying applicable NFPA standards, and in reading and interpreting construction documents.
  • Must able to work on a construction job site.
  • Must obtain and retain any licenses that are required by national, state/province, and local codes.
Preferred
  • Minimum Experience: 5 years Fire Sprinkler Design experience
  • NICET Level III or IV certification is preferred.
