STATEMENT OF JOB
The Maintenance Mechanic from verbal orders, sketches or prints, repairs, installs, rebuilds and maintains mechanical equipment. As needed this individual will assist other trades, design systems, create drawings, quote jobs, order materials and provide engineering support.

* Spill management and clean-up.
* Air shutoff locations.
* Capability to follow satellite accumulation rules and requirements.
* Proficiency to recognize hazardous wastes in your area and manage properly.


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be 18 years of age and have a HS Diploma or equivalent. Journeyman with 3-5 years industrial experience (preferred). Mechanic background is required, electric background is a plus. Must pass a basic color blindness test. Instrumentation and PLC knowledge is a plus. Physical demand requires normal activities of working with average to heavy materials, from ladders, or in cramped or difficult positions.

DUTIES

1. Inspects defective equipment and machinery and diagnoses malfunctions.

2. Disassembles and overhauls internal combustion engines, pumps, pump power units, generators, transmissions, clutches using hand tools and hoists.

3. Cleans and rebuilds compressor valves. Overhauls compressors using hand and power tools.

4. Rebuilds vacuum equipment and blowers.

5. Repairs cartridge spinning machines by dismantling hydraulic system and replacing worn bearings, lines and clutches.

6. Replaces pump shafts with hand tools, machines shafts to proper dimension and installs new sleeves if excessively worn. Using a special spray gun builds up shafts by heating it with torch and spraying on special alloy metals and grinding to proper dimensions. Uses an induction heater on bearings by monitoring with a pyrometer equipment using hoists, jacks and hand and power tools.

7. Repairs actuators and actuator valves by dismantling from equipment, building blocks, replacing worn parts and reassembling with hand and power tools.

8. Repairs heat exchangers by removing defective tubes and rolling and inserting new ones. Air tests exchanger by attaching flange and airline. Observes for pressure drop and/or bubbles from soap solution.

9. Installs mechanical seals on pumps with hand and power tools by disassembling and cleaning container rings and replacing worn seals with new ones and reassembling.

10. Machines new parts for mechanical equipment by taking dimensions. Selects proper material and turns, shapes or mills material into new parts.

11. Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on air dryers by inspection, replacing desiccant and checking blow-down valves.

12. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment by scheduling work from preprinted computerized cards.

13. When equipment is disassembled, inspects for work or partially worn parts and advises supervision on expected life of part. Searches out serial number of equipment, part order, and other pertinent information from manuals for reordering purposes. Orders repair parts.

14. Adjusts brakes, aligns wheels, tightens bolts and screws, and reassembles equipment using hand and power tools.

15. Participates in building, assists in designing of production machines and modifies equipment to perform its desired function safely.
